Yashi Carrington is a multi-disciplinary leader dedicated to bridging the gap between clinical science and community-led wellness in Trinidad and Tobago. As a Chemical Engineer with an MSc in Environmental Science and Management, she brings a rigorous, systems-based approach to health advocacy—viewing the body, much like our environment, as a delicate ecosystem that requires balance and specialized care.
Her advocacy is deeply rooted in her roles as a Board Member of the Caribbean Coalition for Maternal and Reproductive Health (CCMRH), Global Projects Director with the PCOS Awareness Association (PCOSAA) and Community Solutions Program Fellow. Beyond the technical, she is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (Advanced) and a licensed Zumba Instructor, using movement and body-awareness to help women navigate the emotional and physical complexities of PCOS/PMOS.
By merging her lived experience managing PCOS/PMOS for over 20 years, her professional background and her passion for somatic healing, she has created Persevering with PCOS—a movement designed to replace medical isolation with evidence-based empowerment and community connection. She hosted the 5-day Persevering With PCOS virtual summit in 2021 with over 30 speakers and almost 400 participants, covering five thematic areas - (1) specialised medical information, (2) fertility and menstruation,(3) exercise and nutrition, (4) mindset and mental health, and (5) self-care and confidence.
